How does social media engage communications?
On various social media platforms, people can chat without restrictions, share their stories, and write comments under other people’s article or blogs. People can choose what they see with their friends whether it is a valuable article or piece of information on a social media. Therefore, the network users have participated in the communications.
How does social challenge communications?
Many people think that speaking on social media is irresponsible because some people will use fictitious online identities to attack and discredit others. Moreover, there are some very strange people leaving strange comments on your social media platform, and sometimes you do receive some threatening text messages. Overall, the security of social platforms cannot be guaranteed so that it is the hugest challenge of network communications.
Is it inclusive?
A PLN is inclusive depends on the diversity of social platforms is able to attract more network users and build a mutually beneficial relationship with them. My PLN will help the viewers as much as possible to meet their needs based on their different needs, their different perspectives, and their different areas of work, and then enhance our own capabilities.
Does your PLN amplify the views of others?
I consider a good PLN is one that can be made more valuable by the different views and suggestions of its viewers. One of the most important reasons is when they have information they want to know and your PLN can give them more useful information. When there are some very positive perspectives, I will stick on top on my page, write a short article or make a blog for those comments specifically to let more people see those positive perspectives. I believe it is one of the ways to amplify the views of others.
The policies of employer social media communication expectations.

- Keep company social media policy simple and easy to understand.
How to better use social media to Build PLN – Influencers & Commentators
- Treat people sincerely
- Avoid overly radical comments
- Do not spread rumors
- Do not attack others with words
What are the benefits of a diverse and inclusive PLN in social media sharing that understands where you are coming from with messaging that impacts the community?
A diverse and inclusive PLN in social media can be equally accepted and welcomed by the group, with the same opportunities and treatment as others. Everyone can easily browse what they want to know, and the information provided by the diverse PLN is comprehensive. Moreover, everyone can find comments, articles, or readerships that are similar to their own ideas. Another benefit is that we can learn more comprehensively about our knowledge, learn about experiences that can help us in our work, and increase our knowledge. Surveys can be used to collect different people’s opinions or to gather information on how different opinions and attitudes affect the community, because when there are people who disagree with your ideas, opposing ideas will spread.

Hi Yuxin,
I liked your blog post 7 a lot as it has some very detailed answers. I do believe that social media challenges communications from having all sorts of users freely express themselves online with no filter therefore misinformation may spread, controversial topics arises and heated debates start to occur. Misinformation that spreads all over the internet from inaccurate posts or unregulated posts can spread false information that can in the long run be negative to those who read it. An example that still exists is that people still people the earth is flat although it has been proven it is not. Inclusion and diversity seems like the right goal to reach but it also brings it negative aspects as well. What do you think?
Thanks,
Becky Zeng

Hey Yuxin,
I liked that you mentioned the negative aspects to social media use on top of your detailed description of the benefits of a diverse and inclusive PLN. Personally, I consider the both to be hand-in-hand. With an inclusive community that fosters safe and welcoming discussions is always another online user who disagrees. I firmly believe that having respectful debates is a core component to learning. One can simply agree to disagree by the end but it’s always nice to see things from a different perspective. I find it to be enlightening. However, as you mentioned often times this isn’t the case and instead hateful and harmful comments are made. Do you think there will ever be a truly effective way of managing this without interfering with typical online discourse? I’d love to hear your thoughts.
Sincerely,
Kathy

Hey! I really like the use of the word “security” in your blog post regarding safety on social media. I think it perfectly sums up the lack thereof safety protocols on social media. I also really liked your note on not attacking others with word. Too often I see (as I am sure we all do) comments on individual’s posts that come from much hatred and negativity. I really liked reading your blog, a lot of good comments on this topic.
