How diverse is your PLN?
The trend of the Internet has influenced all walks of life, allowing us to enjoy the exchange of information at the moment. There should be no doubt about this. Personal learning networks are no exception, and the Internet has brought more possibilities to the way of learning. The rise of e-learning and even the current growing trend is naturally related to its advantages.
What I consider to be the diversity of my personal learning network. First, personal learning networks make active learning more possible. I can choose the issues and courses that interest me most to learn. And I can start any course from any chapter at any time and any place. This is active and free learning for me, and students are more motivated to learn, which I call active learning. Second, e-learning here is more focused on the teacher’s ability, you have the ability you are on, for example, knowledgeable people can become my interest in the label. The courses can be applied in a variety of ways to the information technology teaching sessions, which is interesting and more efficient. And learning online education can choose their own courses, from the root of the incentive to constantly optimize these courses. I think this is educational diversity learning. Thirdly, compared to under traditional learning, most of the courses are developed according to the same syllabus, course standards, and course objectives, and the learning content is relatively homogeneous and knowledge cannot be updated in time. But under learning network education, I can learn various types of courses through one cell phone, computer and other ports, learn the latest knowledge of the industry and update my knowledge base in time. This is what I think of as course diversity.
Are you learning from a variety of diverse voices and are you expanding your understanding of the views of others?
First, I think it’s important to learn through different voices. By having many different voices in the debates that surround me, I can better understand what promotes acceptance and inclusion. A diverse learning style promotes and understands more interesting and new knowledge, especially since different voices bring me more of a different aspect and perspective to understand an issue, analyze it, and then solve it in a different way than I think about it, which I think is very interesting and important. In my personal learning network, I think that I am not the only one who thinks about learning and thinking, but that the diversity of other people’s perspectives also plays an important role in learning. For example, when I was struggling with a very literary question “Was there a chicken or an egg in the world first”. This is a question that I can think about for a long time, and I think there are many aspects and angles to this question, but it is an open question and it has no standard answer. But in my personal learning network, I also want to learn from different people’s views and understanding of this question and I can refer to the diversity of learning from it.
What is a learning outcome of your PLN and how are you ensuring your exposure to diversity and inclusion?
I think my personal learning network as a way for me to connect with workers around the globe who are learning and to stay informed about current learning trends, more precisely in my field of expertise. The greatest result of this is that I have access to different lesson plans and resources. It has been developed mainly through social media such as Twitter, blogs and has helped me to make connections, expand my knowledge base and develop myself professionally through continuous learning.
I think diversity is key to improving cognitive skills and critical thinking. Exposure to diversity helps me diversity promotes creativity when brainstorming, such as understanding cultural-historical context, culturally embedded meanings, and creating a culturally responsive learning network. Then for promoting diversity learning, such as location diversity, equity and inclusion approaches. Need to uphold the belief in managing bias and develop some learning programs that can involve people from all over the world in brainstorming, expressing and sharing ideas.

Hi Yuxin,
Your post is so insightful. You include your personal experience and I think it is so impressing. When we have some questions that we cannot solve, we might spend time thinking and searching materials for it. However, if we post it online and ask for others’ advice, we might receive totally different angles and this would greatly contribute to our critical thinking to some extent.
